JCHX Botswana awarded underground mining contract at Khoemacau

JCHX Botswana Mining Construction Proprietary Ltd (JCHX Botswana), a subsidiary of JCHX Mining, has officially signed a contract with Khoemacau Copper Mining Proprietary Ltd (KCM) for underground mining operations at Khoemacau Copper Mine in Botswana. This agreement marks JCHX’s expansion in the African market.

KCM, a company controlled by MMG and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s Main Board, operates Khoemacau Copper Mine, which is situated in the Kalahari Copper Belt in southern Africa. The mine’s license area spans over 4,000 km², and the contract, valued at approximately $805 million, covers underground mining at Zone 5 for a period of five years.

The year 2025 is particularly significant as it marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana. As JCHX’s first contract mining project in Botswana, this agreement represents a major milestone. The company views this as a breakthrough in its ongoing expansion in Africa, showcasing its expertise in contract mining and construction services on a global scale.

JCHX has expressed its commitment to leveraging its resources and international experience to collaborate effectively with KCM. The goal is to establish the Khoemacau project as a benchmark for mining operations in southern Africa.
