Zimbabwe’s Hidden Veins: Dokwe North’s New Gold Puzzle

By Bradley Riviera, Editor – MiningFocus Africa

Zimbabwe’s greenstone belts have long whispered of untapped riches. Ariana Resources is starting to decode those whispers. On July 27, the company revealed a fresh gold anomaly northeast of the Dokwe North pit—one showing elevated geochemical signals across arsenic, antimony, and tellurium.

These pathfinder elements suggest the anomaly may be part of a multi-phase hydrothermal system, possibly connected to a larger lode-gold network extending deep into the Greater Bulawayo Belt. Early drone magnetics point to feeder structures and fluid conduits, prompting plans for trenching and deep-core drilling in August.

The anomaly sits within proximity of existing haul roads and camp facilities, lowering exploration costs and boosting feasibility. Ariana’s team is also piloting machine learning algorithms to fuse geochemical and geophysical data, part of a broader movement to digitize Zimbabwe’s exploration ecosystem.

As artisanal miners face mounting challenges, discoveries like Dokwe North offer a path to formalization. The Mines Ministry has expressed interest in leveraging the site for a cluster beneficiation pilot, merging informal and industrial mining.

For Zimbabwe, gold is more than a commodity—it’s a test of integration, innovation, and economic revitalization.
