Ethiopia Secures $13.1 Billion in Energy and Mining Investment Deals

Ethiopia has signed $13.1 billion in investment agreements across energy, mining, manufacturing, and real estate, reinforcing its ambition to become a regional hub for industrialisation and clean energy.

The deals were concluded at the Invest in Ethiopia conference in Addis Ababa, attracting investors from Asia, Europe, and Africa.

A Strong Push into Energy and Industry

The largest share of investment is led by Ming Yang Smart Energy Group, which plans a massive $10 billion commitment toward green ammonia production and electrical equipment manufacturing—placing Ethiopia firmly in the emerging global green fuels market.

Additional investments span manufacturing, mining, solar production, and real estate. Companies such as Rashmi Group and Sun King are targeting mining and solar equipment, while other investors are focusing on industrial zones and urban development. Together, these projects reflect a coordinated push to diversify Ethiopia’s economic base.

From Agreements to Implementation

Despite the scale of the announcements, officials emphasize that execution will determine success. Zeleke Temesgen noted that the real measure lies in how quickly these commitments translate into operational projects.

This highlights a familiar challenge: ensuring that large-scale investment pledges move efficiently from signing to delivery.
