MC Mining Restructures Board to Align with Strategic Growth

South African coal producer MC Mining has announced the appointment of Jianheng Deng (Albert) as a nonexecutive director, replacing Brian He Zhen.

The board reshuffle follows the company’s strategic partnership with Kinetic Development Group (KDG), which has provided critical funding and technical support for the Makhado hard coking coal project in Limpopo.

Zhen’s tenure was marked by regulatory approvals and stakeholder engagement that advanced Makhado toward production. The new appointment signals a shift toward operational execution and market expansion. MC Mining aims to become South Africa’s leading supplier of steelmaking coal, a key input for regional infrastructure and industrialization.

The company is also exploring downstream beneficiation opportunities to increase local value capture.
