Epiroc Strengthens South African Mining Services with Eventspec Acquisition

Epiroc AB has completed the acquisition of the business operations of Eventspec Proprietary Limited, a leading South African provider of mining aftermarket solutions, reinforcing its commitment to expanding equipment servicing and customer support across the country’s mining sector.

The acquisition enhances Epiroc’s aftermarket capabilities by adding specialised repair, rebuild and component manufacturing services for mining equipment, enabling the company to deliver more comprehensive lifecycle support to mining customers.

Expanding Aftermarket Support for Mining Equipment

Headquartered in Johannesburg, Eventspec has built a strong reputation over more than 20 years by supplying high-quality aftermarket components and maintenance services for drill rigs, mine trucks and loaders.

The company also offers equipment rebuilds, repairs and technical services that help mining companies improve machine performance, reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

With approximately 125 employees, Eventspec generated revenues of around ZAR280 million (US$17 million) in 2025, serving a customer base primarily made up of South African mining companies.

Acquisition Strengthens Epiroc’s Service Business

Epiroc first announced its intention to acquire Eventspec in March 2026 as part of its strategy to expand its global aftermarket service network.

Following the completion of the transaction, the business will operate within Epiroc’s Equipment & Service Business Area, with its financial performance reported under the company’s service revenue segment.

The acquisition reflects Epiroc’s ongoing focus on growing its aftermarket business, which has become an increasingly important part of the company’s long-term growth strategy.
