Mine Safety and Hoisting Technologies Led Becker’s Exhibition Success

Becker Mining South Africa, a leading supplier of complete energy, automation, communication, transportation and technologies, participated at Electra Mining 2026.

Becker Mining South Africa’s participation at Electra Mining Africa 2026 attracted a steady stream of visitors, with its Kito hoisting equipment and Missing Person Locator System emerging as particular attractions.

Becker Mining’s interactive stand combined digital product presentations with hands-on engagement, giving visitors an opportunity to explore technologies for mining and general industry.

The Kito display proved a crowd favourite. Visitors were encouraged to examine the equipment up close, gaining a better understanding of the technology and its various applications. Becker’s Kito portfolio includes chain hoists, lever hoists and electric hoists, suitable for many industries including mining, construction, shipping, manufacturing, food processing and chemical plants.

Personnel safety was another focus, with Becker’s Missing Person Locator System drawing attention to the critical role of tracking and mine visualisation in emergency response. The Missing Person Locator System, which is integrated into Becker’s SmartFlow™ digital mine visualisation and management platform, tracks personnel and mobile equipment in underground and surface operations. This system incorporates man-down detection and evacuation management, while historical records allow personnel movements to be reviewed during incident investigations and safety audits.

A 3D viewer displays personnel locations and movement, while GPS and mapping integration enable surface tracking. Compatibility with VHF, UHF, Wi-Fi, LTE and other wireless systems allows the module to work across different mine communication networks. Integration with Becker’s Leaky Feeder technology provides underground connectivity, linking tracking capabilities with the communication infrastructure needed during an emergency.

Digital presentations showcased Becker’s comprehensive range of communication, electrical and mechanical solutions. These systems include environmental monitoring, proximity detection, underground electrical reticulation, fluid transfer and transportation systems.

Becker Mining’s extensive product portfolio, which complies with government mining regulations and mining house specifications, includes shaft safety components, underground and tunnel supports, transport systems and communication and collision avoidance systems. The range also encompasses pumps, electrical and electronics systems, mechanical equipment, as well as lifting and maintenance equipment.
