Electra Mining Africa 2026 Set To Showcase Mining Technology, Skills And Innovation

Electra Mining Africa 2026 is set to bring together more than 1,000 exhibitors and thousands of mining, engineering and industrial professionals at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from September 7 to 11, showcasing technologies and solutions shaping the future of African industry.

Now in its 54th year, the exhibition will cover more than 44,000 square metres and feature equipment, machinery, automation, electrical systems, power solutions, engineering services and technologies across the mining and industrial sectors.

Visitors will have opportunities to see machinery and technologies operating through live demonstrations, engage directly with technical experts and explore solutions designed to address operational challenges. The expanded event will also introduce a new outdoor exhibition area and a wider range of products and services.

Skills development and industry knowledge will form a major part of the programme. The free-to-attend Seminar Theatre, hosted by the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM), will focus on topics including future skills, automation and digitalisation, sustainability and energy efficiency, women in mining and engineering, and local manufacturing and innovation.

Women in Mining South Africa will also host a half-day workshop focused on leadership, innovation, influence and transformation within the mining industry. The event is designed to provide networking opportunities and practical insights for women working across the sector.

The exhibition will also highlight emerging talent through the Geological Society of South Africa’s new The Explorers’ Pitch, where students will present mineral exploration concepts to industry experts. Meanwhile, Lifting Africa’s Forklift Driver Competition will test operators on precision, safety, efficiency and workplace handling skills.

A new SAIMechE Skills and Career Hub will connect industry with universities, higher education institutions and training providers. The initiative will focus on future skills, applied research, innovation and closer collaboration between education and the mining and industrial sectors.

With its combination of technology demonstrations, industry expertise, skills development and networking, Electra Mining Africa 2026 is positioned as more than an exhibition. It provides a platform for mining and industrial professionals to discover new solutions, build partnerships and explore the technologies and skills shaping the next generation of African industry.
