Zimbabwe’s Lithium Boom Gains Pace with New Projects and Partnerships

By Brandon Moss for ExportFocus Africa

Zimbabwe’s lithium sector is heating up, and African Mining Week 2025 will put it center stage. Under the theme “From Extraction to Beneficiation,” the conference will spotlight Zimbabwe’s rapid expansion in lithium mining, driven by global demand for battery minerals.

New projects in Bikita and Kamativi are attracting Chinese and European investment, while the government is pushing for domestic processing to capture more value. Officials are also exploring regional trade corridors to streamline exports and reduce bottlenecks.

With lithium prices surging and electric vehicle adoption accelerating, Zimbabwe is positioning itself as a strategic supplier in the global energy transition. Expect announcements on new refining facilities, export agreements, and infrastructure upgrades during AMW 2025.
