Didier Rault Joins African Mining Week 2026 Advisory Board
Didier Rault, chief executive officer of World Mining Investment, has joined the advisory board of African Mining Week 2026 ahead of the conference scheduled for October 14–16 in Cape Town.
Organised by Energy Capital & Power, the event is positioned as a major platform for advancing mining investment, project development and policy dialogue across Africa’s mineral sector.
Rault’s appointment comes as African governments and mining developers intensify efforts to attract fresh capital to accelerate critical minerals projects amid rapidly rising global demand for battery minerals and strategic resources. Industry forecasts indicate global demand for critical minerals could triple by 2030 as countries expand clean energy, electric vehicle and industrial supply chains.
As a member of the AMW advisory board, Rault is expected to contribute expertise on investment trends, financing structures and partnership models aimed at improving access to international capital for African mining projects.
Rault brings more than 25 years of experience in international finance and investment, having worked on government and corporate transactions across multiple jurisdictions. Through investment scouting initiatives and government collaborations across Africa, he has supported efforts to connect mining opportunities with foreign investors and development finance institutions.
According to organisers, Rault also participated in facilitating a presidential-level exploratory collaboration on critical minerals with an African nation during 2025, reflecting growing geopolitical competition for access to African mineral resources.
His international experience spans markets including Malaysia, France, China, Australia and Tajikistan.
Organisers said his expertise in risk assessment, due diligence, project evaluation and cross-border financing is expected to help shape discussions around innovative financing mechanisms, technical partnerships and policy reforms needed to strengthen Africa’s mining investment environment.
Held under the theme “Mining the Future: Unearthing Africa’s Full Mineral Value Chain,” African Mining Week 2026 aims to bring together governments, mining companies, investors and technology providers to accelerate capital mobilisation and deepen Africa’s participation in global mineral supply chains.
The conference will also focus on strategies to unlock Africa’s estimated US$29.5 trillion in mineral wealth, representing roughly 20% of global mineral reserves, according to event organisers.
