Awalé Reports High-Grade Gold-Copper Results At Côte d’Ivoire Project

Awalé Resources has announced encouraging drilling results from its Newmont-backed Odienné gold-copper project in Côte d’Ivoire, with new assays indicating that the high-grade mineralised zone extends well below the current open-pit resource.

The latest exploration campaign targeted the BBM deposit, where drilling intersected significant grades of gold and copper, strengthening the company’s belief that the project has considerable underground development potential.

One of the standout drill holes returned 7 metres grading 7.04 grams of gold per tonne, together with copper, silver and molybdenum mineralisation, while another intersected 46 metres grading 1.93 grams of gold per tonne with additional copper values. The results represent some of the highest gold grades recorded at the deposit to date.

According to Awalé Chief Executive Officer Andrew Chubb, the new drilling confirms that the high-grade core continues at depth, increasing confidence that the resource can be significantly expanded beyond the existing open-pit limits.

The Odienné project currently hosts an inferred mineral resource of approximately 32.4 million tonnes, containing an estimated 1.4 million ounces of gold and 93,000 tonnes of copper across the BBM, Charger and Empire deposits.

Exploration is being conducted under a joint venture with Newmont, with Awalé managing field activities while the global mining company provides exploration funding. Seven drilling rigs are currently operating on the project as the company continues to test deeper mineralisation.

The latest results further strengthen Côte d’Ivoire’s reputation as one of West Africa’s fastest-growing gold exploration destinations, with continued investment highlighting the country’s growing importance in Africa’s mining sector.
