PROK Opens New Idler Manufacturing Facility In Johannesburg

Global conveyor component manufacturer PROK has opened a new idler manufacturing facility in Johannesburg, strengthening its local production capabilities and support for Africa’s mining and bulk materials handling industries.

The new South African facility is designed to improve PROK’s ability to meet growing demand for conveyor rollers, idlers and related services while providing customers with faster response times and shorter lead times.

The investment expands PROK’s engineering, manufacturing and service capabilities in the region, while increasing the availability of locally produced conveyor components and supporting equipment.

The Johannesburg facility will manufacture a range of idler solutions, including steel, hybrid, composite and impact idlers, as well as different idler sets and associated equipment used across mining and bulk material handling operations.

Philip le Roux, General Manager of PROK South Africa, said the facility reflects the company’s long-term commitment to customers and partners across Africa. He said the investment in local infrastructure and expertise would enable PROK to provide more responsive support, innovative solutions and high-performance products aimed at improving productivity and reliability.

The new site also strengthens PROK’s strategy of combining its global engineering expertise with local knowledge, allowing customers to access solutions tailored to regional operating requirements.

With mining companies across Africa placing increasing emphasis on equipment reliability, availability and local support, the Johannesburg facility positions PROK to respond more effectively to demand while strengthening its presence in the continent’s mining supply chain.
