HH to Deliver Keynote Address at 2026 Mining Indaba in South Africa
Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema is set to deliver a keynote address at the Investing in African Mining Indaba 2026, reaffirming Zambia’s growing role in Africa’s evolving mining and investment landscape.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation confirmed that President Hichilema will attend the high-level mining conference, which takes place from February 9 to 12, 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. The announcement was made by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Rodney Sikumba, who said the President’s participation signals Zambia’s renewed international engagement in the mining sector.
According to the Ministry, President Hichilema’s keynote address will highlight Zambia’s mining reform agenda, investment-friendly policies, and commitment to responsible and sustainable mineral development. His presence at the Indaba is expected to strengthen Zambia’s visibility among global mining investors, policymakers and industry leaders.
Mining Indaba is widely regarded as Africa’s premier mining investment event, bringing together governments, mining companies, financiers and development partners to discuss trends shaping the continent’s mineral sector, including critical minerals, energy transition metals and local value addition.
President Hichilema’s participation comes as Zambia positions itself as a stable and attractive destination for mining investment, underpinned by policy reforms, improved regulatory transparency and a renewed focus on downstream beneficiation.
The Ministry noted that the President’s engagement at the Indaba will also provide an opportunity to advance strategic partnerships, promote Zambia’s mineral potential, and reinforce the country’s role as a key player in Africa’s mining-driven industrialisation agenda.
