Cementation Africa to Equip Mindola Shaft, Extending Life of Zambia’s Nkana Mine

Mining contractor Cementation Africa has been awarded a major contract to equip the Mindola shaft at Mopani Copper Mines, a move set to extend the operational life and efficiency of the Nkana Mine.

The project marks a significant step in modernising one of Zambia’s most important copper mining operations.

Upgrading Mindola Shaft for Future Production

Cementation Africa’s scope of work focuses on preparing the Mindola shaft for long-term production. This includes:

• Construction of a new permanent headgear
• Installation and commissioning of advanced winders
• Full shaft scanning using 3D technology
• Structural alignment correction and reinforcement
• Installation of an overland conveyor system

The company will also complete the equipping of the remaining 500 metres of the shaft, ensuring safe and efficient hoisting operations.
