Ramelius Begins Eridanus Gold Mine Expansion to Boost Production

Australian gold producer Ramelius Resources has commenced the stage three open-pit expansion at its Eridanus gold deposit in Western Australia, advancing plans to increase ore supply and strengthen production at its Mt Magnet processing hub.

The expansion follows earlier mining phases that began in 2019 and 2020, with continued exploration contributing to the deposit’s resource growth.

Eridanus hosts an estimated mineral resource of 30 million tonnes grading 1.6 grams per tonne of gold, equivalent to approximately 1.5 million ounces, based on the company’s June 2025 estimate.

The latest development is expected to provide additional ore to support mining operations over the coming years.

Ramelius Targets Higher Gold Production

The Eridanus expansion forms part of Ramelius Resources’ broader growth strategy, which aims to increase annual gold production to between 560,000 and 610,000 ounces by the 2030 financial year.

A major component of this strategy is the expansion of processing capacity at Mt Magnet.

The company has appointed Primero to deliver a new processing circuit with a capacity of three million tonnes annually. Operating alongside the existing two-million-tonne plant, the upgrade will increase total installed processing capacity to approximately five million tonnes per year.

Expanding Mining Assets

Ramelius is also developing other projects to strengthen its production pipeline.

Its acquisition of Spartan Resources added the Dalgaranga gold project, including the Never Never and Pepper underground deposits, to its portfolio.

The company is also progressing the Rebecca–Roe gold project as another potential contributor to future production.

Ramelius reported that its group ore reserves increased by 79 per cent to 4.3 million ounces in FY2026, strengthening its longer-term development outlook.

The Eridanus stage three cutback represents another step in the company’s expansion plans, combining additional mining capacity with investment in processing infrastructure.

The development highlights how continued exploration, resource expansion and processing investment are shaping Ramelius Resources’ strategy to increase gold production and strengthen its position in Western Australia’s mining industry.
